Where It All Begins

As every ninja-in-training should, we are starting with the basics. The very first thing we should learn is what a ninja does.

Ninja train to accomplish a goal, normally related to the safety of their village. This goal, however, can change drastically over time. Many ninja have defined their lives through purposes like revenge, protection of their loved ones, and ultimate power. it is this passion that drives them to train as they do. A poor ninja is one without a purpose, as he has nothing to believe in or to fight for. Without this purpose the ninja himself is vulnerable to being used. As such, the ninja would no longer live for his dream but for the dreams of someone else.

To become a ninja you must go through rigorous and lengthy training. Know that there is no shortcut, no fast way to achieve this. Every ninja (excluding special cases) begins training at the age of six in a ninja academy. These academies include a regular school curriculum paired with extra classes such as senjutsu, ninjutsu, genjutsu and more. Many core classes are more difficult in an attempt to challenge the students and to better prepare them for the outside world. Normally, ninja schooling ends at the ages of eleven or twelve one the student takes the academy's final test: the graduation exam.

Academy curriculum:

The academy curriculum consists of regular core classes, most of which you may be taking or have taken. These include:

  • Mathematics

  • Sciences

  • Histories

  • Government

  • Language

  • Social Sciences

Also, like many other schools, there are electives:

  • Gym

  • Art

  • Band

  • Kunoichi Classes (which are much like home economics)

  • Etc.

You will notice that during gym classes, however, the curriculum is much more vigorous than the gym classes you may be familiar with. There are no "free days" and you don't get to sit on the bleachers and hang out with your friends. This class is intense to the degree that showers are mandatory...if you don't want ot end up smelling like your entire football team's dirty socks. Physical education is not taken lightly. Though not all ninja rely on their physical capabilities in battle, in the academy you must learn the basics and you must gain stamina if you wish to pass the class. It is important to be as well-rounded in both ninja and citizen studies as possible. This could give you an advantage at any time, in civilian pursuits (taxes, shopping, etc.), or on a mission.

Kunoichi classes are, as you have probably guessed, for kunoichi - or female ninja. In this class, female students learn a set of abilities that could be crucial to both day-to-day life and undercover missions. They learn a wide variety of abilities including cooking, cleaning, sewing, flower arranging, and more. While it is not expected and certainly not usual for a male to take this class, it is very possible and absolutely allowed. This would probably provoke teasing from other males in the main class, however, as it is a class for kunoichi and not shinobi - or male ninja.

The primary motivation for having kunoichi classes available to the academy's female population is that missions which the female ninja embarks on may differ from purpose in missions the male ninja might go on. While looks are not a necessity for kunoichi, they are more likely to be given a mission in which they must seduce someone for the purpose of gaining information or killing them than a shinobi might. The set of skills taught in this class are meant to help kunoichi stay undercover on such missions.

The strictly ninja classes include the following:

  • Taijutsu

  • Ninjutsu

  • Genjutsu

  • Tactics/Strategy

  • Intonjutsu

  • Weapons Training (including various weapons described in following posts)

These classes are all imperitive to your becoming a ninja. Without even one it is likely that you will not live long or fail your missions. Every ninja, at some point in their lives, will be faced with difficult decisions and leadership will be thrust upon them. Without being aware of every aspect of the shinobi world, you might fail your mission and your team.

Check It Out!

Okay, so I've now collected all the most useful Naruto websites I know and have put them up for you to use at your will! Just look to the top left of the page and you'll see a list of links to the several websites!

Now, getting down to business. While I'm pulling together a list of Jutsu (all arranged into categories) and waiting for my editor to review them all for me to make sure there are no mistakes, I figured I should still be posting a thing or two to keep this going until the really good stuff arrives. I just wanted to point out a few features of this blog that you might like.

For those of you Squad 7 fans who wish that the team could have continued in it's happy days I definately don't blame you. Who wouldn't? At the bottom of the page you can find a small roll of Naruto youtube videos. The first is the one I truely recommend to you, because despite tastes in music, the lyrics and the pictures are what really gets to your heart and brightens your spirit!

Just above this, you'll see a list of "Fan Fictions." Fan fictions are fan-made stories based on their favorite manga/anime, cartoons, movies, books, tv shows, etc. I personally am the authoress of my own fan fiction which you can see below along with several others that I recommend you read. These particular fan fictions are categorized as "OC fan fictions" or "Other Character fan fictions." These stories contain original characters made by the author/authoress (not Masashi Kishimoto) who add a twist to the plot. Whether they pose as a person from our world who lands in the Narutoverse or a new character who was there from the beginning, all are very good stories that I fully support (of course, including my own). Check them out and I guarantee you'll like at least one of them! Bet you can't guess which one is mine!

I'm also hoping to post fan art here. any art you see is NOT mine. I don't have that level of artistic talent... at least when drawing. I'll give acknowledgement to all rightful owners if I can, but if they can't be found, just know that I do NOT claim the art as my own! It is here solely for the purpose of being revered in the eyes of all Narutards like myself! So please don't sue me!

Finally, I'd like to point out that I'm always welcome to knew ideas. Want me to post your art? I'd love to! Need certain info that you can't find anywhere else? I'll get it in a second! Just say the word and I'll help out the best I can! Thanks again for all your support!
